Incognito Chat

Modified on Sun, 24 Mar at 6:27 PM

Incognito Chat on Rafts and Channels enables members to send messages without sharing their identity. It is only available on Premium Rafts. Incognito Chat can be a great tool for class discussions, Q&As, or Channels based around sensitive topics.

How to Enable Incognito Chat

Community Admins and Department Admins can enable Incognito Chat from the Raft Management dashboard on an individual Channel basis. Access to enable this feature is only available from the Admin Portal, not the Raft settings menu

How to Send Incognito Messages

Once an administrative user has enabled Incognito Chat on a Raft or Channel, members of that chat group can choose to send any message as an Incognito message. You can tell if a Channel or Raft has Incognito Chat enabled by the "incognito" (ghost) icon in the message composer bar. To send an incognito message, select the ghost icon outline. Once selected, it should be colored in. Then, write your message as usual and send it. The message author will appear as Channel Member. Incognito messages cannot be edited or deleted.

How to View the Author of an Incognito Message

If an incognito message is flagged by members of the group, the Raft or Channel Admins will see the name of the original author in the Flagged Message Report. This is the only way an incognito author may be revealed. (NOTE: The Channel Admin of the main Raft Chat is the same as the Raft Admin.)
