Creating Basic Posts

Modified on Sun, 24 Mar at 7:13 PM

Basic Posts make up the foundation of content on Raftr. Once you learn how to create your own Post, you’ll have the essential insight into making all types of content, and soon you’ll be contributing to a thriving, engaging community on Raftr. You can create Posts on the mobile apps and the web version of Raftr, as well as from the Launchpad.

On Mobile Apps

To create a Post in Raftr, simply go to the Posts screen, the Home section, or a specific Raft, and click the add new (+) button. Then select PostAt the very top of the page, select which Raft you’d like your Post to be located in. Once selected, write a title to help users know exactly what the Post is about, then type what you want to say in the Post text field. Finally, assign a topic then tap the Share button.

When creating Posts you can also include images, videos, and files from your personal library, or add a GIF from Giphy to make your Post more eye-catching. If you’d like your Post to be cross-promoted in different Rafts, select the Cross-Post icon on the bottom far right and select any additional Raft(s) you want to share it on.

NOTE: Images, GIFs, and video files cannot be combined on Posts. You will need to choose one media type in order to save your Post. Documents like word docs and spreadsheets can be combined with any media type.

You can also choose to broadcast if you are the Leader or Co-leader of multiple Premium Rafts. Select each Raft you would like under the Post In menu. You will send identical Posts to all of the Rafts selected. From there, select the Broadcast now button to create a separate Post on each selected Raft immediately or Schedule (arrow down) button to schedule a broadcast for later. (NOTE:Scheduling is also a premium feature available to Raft Admins such as Leader and Co-Leader on Premium Rafts only.)

On Web

To create a Post on the web version of Raftr, click the +Create button on the top right of the header bar. Select Post from the dropdown menu to get started. From there, fill out the required fields and select the Post button (or if you are an admin on a Premium Raft, you can schedule it for later).

Add files like images, videos, or documents by using drag-and-drop over the composer. You can also access an image library or choose from your computer by selecting the Photo button.

You can choose to Cross-Post a Post on web to share a single Post to multiple Rafts (good for sharing information when there is a lot of overlap in the Raft membership). Under the Post In dropdown, select the Raft you’d like the Post to be placed in. Then, select the Cross-Post icon. Select one or more Premium Rafts you’d like to share the Post on. You can also choose to Broadcast a Post, which creates duplicate Posts for multiple Rafts (good for sharing the same information to Rafts with not a lot of member overlap). Broadcasting is a feature available only for the Leaders and Co-leaders of Premium Rafts. It allows you to send identical Posts to multiple Rafts or identical messages to multiple people simultaneously. Unlike Cross-Posting, each broadcasted Post or Event is separate, so any future edits must be made individually to each Post or Event on each Raft.

From the Launchpad

To create a Post from the Launchpad, open the Admin Portal and select the Launchpad icon in the top right.  Select the Create a Post button, and then follow the steps for creating a Post on web. The Admin Portal is accessible only to Community Space and Community Hub Admins.
