Managing Your Notifications

General Notifications Information

Notifications are an essential part of staying up to date in Raftr. You can fully customize all of your app notifications to help you stay informed and focused on what matters most.

To view your notifications, select the Notifications (bell) icon on the header bar. There will be a red dot next to the icon when you have unread notifications.

You can mark all of your notifications as read by selecting the Mark all as read (glasses) icon or text link. You can also manage your notification preferences by selecting the Settings (gear) icon at the top of the list.

Updating Your Notifications Preferences

You can update your notification preferences from the Your Notifications page, which you can get to by selecting the Notifications Settings (gear) icon on your Notifications menu, or from links on your Profile or Home Page.

From there, you can fully control which notifications you see and how you receive them. All of these settings apply to all of your notifications. You can also set custom notification settings for a specific Raft or Channel or for your DMs and group messages by visiting the settings for that group.

NOTE: Accounts created before April 26, 2022 may have different default settings than the ones listed here.

Mute Notifications

The first setting at the top of the Your Notifications page is a toggle to mute your notifications. When your notifications are muted, you will only receive essential notifications like important Announcements from community leaders.

When you mute your notifications, it does not affect anyone else's notifications, including members of Rafts or Channels you manage.

When you toggle on Mute Notifications, you will be able to assign a duration for how long your notifications will be muted by selecting one of the following options from the dropdown.

  • One hour
  • Two hours
  • Until tomorrow – No notifications until 9:00 A.M. the following day
  • Until I turn it back on – Mute your notifications indefinitely
  • Custom – Choose a time when you will receive notifications again

You can restore your notifications by waiting the predetermined amount of time or by toggling off the Mute Notifications setting. (NOTE: Some essential notifications are never muted.)

Delivery Methods

In addition to having full control over what notifications you get, you can also decide how you get them.

In-app Notifications

By default, you will always receive the notifications you've enabled in the app. These appear in the list you can open by selecting the Notifications (bell) icon on the header of the iOS, Android, and web versions of the platform. When you have new notifications, there will be a red dot on the icon.

Push Notifications

Push notifications are the alerts and messages you receive on a mobile device. You can enable push notifications by toggling on the Push Notifications button in the Delivery Methods setting. You must have the iOS or Android version of the apps downloaded on your device to receive push notifications. Push notifications are turned on by default.

Email Digests

You can also receive a summary of all of your notifications directly to your inbox by toggling on the Email Digest option. Choose how often you want to receive the digest by using the dropdown menu. You can choose to receive them at your preferred cadence:

  • Hourly
  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • None

As a Community Space Admin, you can adjust how often members receive an email digest by default on the Admin Portal. Unless they adjust their personal cadence based on these settings, they will get notifications by email based on what you set.

Notifications You'll Receive

In the Notifications You'll Receive section, you will see the different categories of notifications you can receive. Each category has a number of notification types that you can fully customize. The default settings are designed with best practices in mind, but you can change your preferences at any time.

However, by showing members how to use these notification settings, they can have more control without shutting out those important messages.
