By default, when you create a Raft or Channel, you automatically become the Leader of that group. However, depending on the nature of the Raft or Channel, you may not want to be the permanent Leader. In addition, in order to leave a Raft or Channel, Leaders must first transfer their role to another member of the group because every Raft and Channel is required to have a Leader.
Transfer Leader Role
To select a new member to be the Raft or Channel Leader, go to the Raft or Channel admin settings by selecting the gear icon in the header. At the bottom of the list, select Transfer Leader Role (this is only visible to the Raft or Channel Leader).
From there, you will see a list of members in your Raft or Channel. Choose one to become the new Leader and select Save. We recommend choosing an existing Co-leader.
After you choose a new Leader, you will be demoted to Member of the Raft or Channel. You can either remain in the group or leave.
