Introduction:

This article will guide you through the process of setting up a Google Calendar as a source for auto-generated content in Raftr's Admin Portal. By following these steps, you will be able to seamlessly import events directly from your Google Calendar into your community. Please ensure that the Google Calendar you wish to use as a source meets the necessary requirements.

Please follow the instructions below to set up your Google Calendar and add it on Raftr:

Step 1: Adjusting Calendar Visibility

To utilize a Google Calendar as a source, the best option is for it to be set to public visibility. If your calendar is already set to public, you can proceed to Step 3. If it cannot be set to public visibility, you can proceed to Step 2. Otherwise, please follow these instructions:

  1. Open Google Calendar in your web browser and sign in to your Google account.

  2. Locate the calendar you want to use as a source in the left sidebar.

  3. Click the three dots ("More options") next to the calendar name and select "Settings and sharing."

  4. In the "Access permissions" section, ensure that the "Make available to public" option is enabled.

  5. Save your changes.

Step 2: Sharing the Calendar with Raftr

If you're unable to set the calendar visibility to public, you can share the calendar directly with Raftr. This step grants Raftr's service account access to fetch events and posts from your calendar. If you were able to successfully complete Step 1, you can skip this step and proceed directly to Step 3.

  1. Follow Steps 1-3 from the previous section to access the "Settings and sharing" page for your calendar.

  2. In the "Share with specific people" section, click the "+ Add People" button.

  3. In the "Add people" field, enter the email address: [email protected]

  4. Set the permission level for Raftr to "See all event details."

  5. Click "Send" to share the calendar with Raftr.

Step 3: Finding the Calendar ID

To complete the setup process, you'll need to locate the Calendar ID associated with your Google Calendar. Here's how you can find it:

  1. Open Google Calendar in your web browser and sign in to your Google account.

  2. Locate the calendar you want to use as a source in the left sidebar.

  3. Click the three dots ("More options") next to the calendar name and select "Settings and sharing."

  4. In the "Integrate calendar" section, scroll down to the "Calendar ID" field.

  5. Copy the alphanumeric code displayed in the "Calendar ID" field.

  6. Paste it on the link field under the AGC source creation screen.

Step 4: Adding Google Calendar as a Source in Raftr's Admin Portal

Now that you have the Google calendar ID, you can proceed to add it as a source in Raftr's Admin Portal. Here's how:

  1. Log in to Raftr's Admin Portal using your credentials.

  2. Navigate to the "Auto-Generated Content" section.

  3. Look for an option to add a new source and select it.

  4. Choose the "Google Calendar" option from the available source types.

  5. Paste the Google calendar ID you obtained earlier into the designated field.

  6. Make sure the rest of the fields on the screen are completed.

  7. Save the changes to add the Google Calendar as a source in Raftr's Admin Portal.

Conclusion:

Congratulations! You have successfully set up your Google Calendar as a source in Raftr's Admin Portal.
